Bart van der Meer, AKA Bart B More, has quickly become one of the brightest new stars in the international electronic music scene. He has consistently been crafting dancefloor destroyers that have received massive support from prominent DJ’s around the world.
Bart first gained exposure as a promising newcomer to the Dutch scene. Combining his love for beat-driven, looped techno music with big room house and electro, he has been crafting a refreshingly new cross-over sound. After his first few years of spinning in Holland, he unleashed “So It Goes” and a remix of Sandy Rivera’s “Freak,” both of which gained extensive international support while being crowned Pete Tong’s Essential New Tunes.
Since then, he has added several original tracks on various labels to his arsenal, like “Romane” (Sound Pellegrino 2009), “Make Some Noise” (Secure 2009), “Don’t Stop The Music” (Secure 2010), “Finally” vs Oliver Twizt (Ultra Records 2009), and “Brap: (Boys Noize 2010), which have all climbed to high points on the Beatport charts.
Bart B More has also demonstrated a natural ability for creating incredible remixes. Examples include Chocolate Puma’s “Touch Me” (Beatport nr. 1), MC Flipside “In The Zone” (Beatport top 5) Drop The Lime’s “Sex Sax” (Beatport Top 15), Crookers feat. Kelis’ “No Security” and Ron Carroll’s “Walking Down The Street.” Besides these official remixes, Bart enjoys working with big records and giving them his own twist, resulting in successful bootlegs of Lily Allen, The Editors, Daft Punk, etc.
What makes Bart’s live sets special is his capacity for diversity, blending together a plethora of different styles and genres into his main-room sound. In the past 3 years Bart has performed at numerous shows around the world, and has amassed a rather impressive resume. A few highlights of the past year of touring include Electric Daisy Carnival – LA, Nocturnal Festival – LA, Trouble & Bass – NY & Miami, Institubes Festival – Paris, Forma T – Bruxelles, Beyond Wonderland – LA, Mad Decent – Miami, Sunrise Festival Poland, Super You & Me, Mysteryland – Holland, INOX Festival France, and RAUW -Amsterdam.
In 2008, Bart B More founded Secure Recordings, which has already released some great records from Diplo, Bassjackers, Riva Starr, Destroy Disco, and Bingo Players. More information on Secure can be found at www.secure-recordings.com .
With upcoming releases, remixes, and worldwide support from the likes of Laidback, Luke, Diplo, Crookers, Switch, A-Trak, Tiesto, and Boys Noize, we can safely say that Bart B More is not one to ignore.
With electronic music dominating the globe, both commercially and underground, the world is in the grip of dance music fever. And two young men who are set to spread the fever even further afield are East & Young, who meld euphoric, big room house music with their own unique soundscapes. In a short space of time they have gained support from some of the giants of the dance music world including Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto, Pete Tong, Laidback Luke, Above & Beyond and David Guetta. 2012 is shaping up to be a big year for the duo as they prepare an exciting live show and lend their exceptional production skills to a variety of studio projects.
Rising up from the relatively quiet backdrop of Enschede, east Holland, Marc Vano and Ivo de Jong are making some noise with their fresh approach to electronic music. A duo who’ve had the Midas Touch from day one, East & Young are purveyors of a new sound that has is rooted firmly in the big room/progressive sound, but draws on influences from far and wide.
It was only four years ago when the guys met, joining forces on a music project while at school together. They clicked instantly and their musical journey began, releasing their debut track ‘Reveal’ to widespread acclaim and support in 2008. With such a strong debut on the world stage East & Young were buoyed by their success and continued to push their sound further, working night and day in the studio to cement their approach and concoct an refreshing new take on dance music by incorporating varied influences into their repertoire. This is apparent in their latest single ‘Starting Again’, which melds their influences together into a club smash and features the stirring vocals of UK singer/songwriter Tom Havelock.
With influences ranging from global superstars, and commanders of the big stage, Axwell, Calvin Harris and The Chemical Brothers, to film scores and indie bands, Marc and Ivo set about constructing the foundations of their spherical, big room soundscapes. Following on from their debut, the duo found themselves evolving quickly to emulate their inspirations and create a captivating, awe-inspiring series of tracks including ‘Beautiful Evening’ and ‘Lifelike’.
In turn, East & Young’s ability to put their unique spin on the work of other artists has opened the gates to a batch of remix work for the likes of DJ Fresh and Dizzee Rascal, to the Kings of Tomorrow, Foster The People, Nadia Ali, Starkillers & Alex Kenji and Sandro Silva. Label support from Strictly Rhythm, Ministry Of Sound, Defected, Hed Kandi and Spinnin has bolstered their already strong position.
2011 saw the guys pick up the award for best new DJ talent at the SLAM!FM awards. The award also landed them a radio show on the legendary Dutch station, following in the footsteps of artists such as Ferry Corsten, DJ Jean, Hardwell and Eric Van Kleef. While they have also signed up to a second show on radio FG USA sharing the airwaves with David Guetta, Chuckie, Laidback Luke, Carl Cox and Bob Sinclar.
Summer 2012 will see the release of a brand new 2-track EP on Calvin Harris’ imprint Fly Eye, that the duo describes as ‘harder’ than their usual style, though just as big. While a spectacular live show featuring live guitars, synths and vocalists is currently in fruition, too, as the duo look to the future and aim to evolve beyond the formulaic electronic music stage show.
It’s an exciting time as electronic music continues to flourish and East & Young are ready to take any challenge head first. The stakes are higher as more and more young people become enamoured with the music but, in typically laid-back Dutch style, Marc and Ivo relish the new challenges offered by this growth in the dance market: “It’s good for us because the competition is really high, so you have to do your best to keep on making good music. Dance music is the new pop music, it’s all very well-produced and that can only be a a good thing,” they say. East & Young may be from the flatlands of Holland, but it’s only a matter of time before this duo achieve the musical equivalent of conquering the peaks of Everest.

Ability, originality and accomplishment. In Michael Woods’ short career he has managed to touch on every cornerstone, leaving proof of his musical competence at producing big room, progressive and tech-house tracks, along with a discernible motivation to better the quality of music being distributed.
He was born and raised in Hackney London where he’s run his studio from. With a move in 2012 to America he is now spending more of his time between London and Los Angeles where he’s currently setting up his studio therebut already writing with the likes of Ne-Yo & Shakira.
Classically trained in a range of instruments at an early age provided Michael with a catalogue of creative skills including the keys (which he learned to play at the age of 3), guitar, drums and trumpet, practically making him a one man band. When not in the studio messing around with Logic, developing his craft, he would be found at Pimlico’s Trinity Music College where he contracted a love for musicality, often using his spare time orchestrating with the percussion section of the London Symphony Orchestra.
Earlier achievements include his debut single, “Warrior” released in 2000 and the critically acclaimed remix of Energy 52’s “Café Del Mar”, both of which are still considered as classic’s among DJs and fans alike. But today’s finished products could not sound more different. They carry a deep, driving and delectable collection of electronic sounds, with melodious, cascading synths and hands-in-the-air rush-inducing drops. This is what Michael Woods is renowned for, and has created an individual sound that he is pioneering, making him a stunning example of an artist that flows with, as well as initiates, music’s changes.
Collaborations with the likes of Chris Lake, Funkagenda & Mark Knight conclude as featured tracks on various compilations and act as proof of his skillful production abilities. It’s alliances like these that excite the growing fan base, but are not the sole examples of his talent, as original tracks such as “Nitro”, “Midnight Run”, “Dynamik”, “No Access”, “First Aid” and “VMS” are continually supported.
Alongside an impressive catalogue of tracks on numerous labels including Mau5trap, and Toolroom Records, many established artists such as Underworld, Martin Sloveig and Moguai have hired Michael Woods to renovate their sound into a style which emulates his musical vision, including the Deadmau5 & Chris Lake’s “I Said”. In addition, mainstream artists such as Lady Gaga, P Diddy, Calvin Harris, Kylie, La Roux and Ginuwine ft Timbaland & Missy Elliot have all borrowed his insatiable remixing skills, leaving his studio rarely empty.
This ability to rework music with an exceptionally sharp ear for quality production has left him in high regard with many artists and labels across the industry, which is now why they are asking for his production skills on their own releases. Michael’s has recently secured him a number 1 in the UK charts for a two consecutive weeks with his production for Example’s “Changed The Way You Kissed Me”.

It was January 6th, 1989 when young Dutchman Nicky Romero saw his first light of day. Born and raised in a small city called Amerongen, Nicky developed an interest for music at a very young age. At the age of 6 he hit his first snare drum after joining a marching band and this is where it all kicked off for young Nicky. After saving up for a little while, Nicky obtained his first drum kit and star
ted banging away at it like there was no tomorrow. For the next three years there was only one beat to be heard in the Romero household, Nicky’s beat, practising the drums day and night.
Being bored with the drum kit, made way for a brand new set of turntables. Studying and practising his mixing skills were mainly what Nicky’s life consisted of at the time. Already flirting with the idea of making his own music and rocking the crowds some day. When Nicky finished school, the path was clear and the objective was set, producing music became not only a career, but a way of life!
The very first musical offerings Privilege and QWERTY by Romero were snatched up by a small boutique label called ‘Once Records’ the ‘Romero sound’ was born. Next to having a few more releases on small independent imprints, there was a remix for Tony Cha Cha and Sidney Samson: ‘Get On The Floor’ that whirled up a storm of publicity. All the aforementioned achievements, left one more aspect of the production game in need of conquering; the bootleg. Producing his own interpretation of David Guetta’s ‘When Love Takes Over’ resulted in instantly becoming the so called talk of the town with thousands of hits on Youtube and posts on various influential music blogs, Nicky made his entrance into the global scene.
Releasing ‘My Friend’ really paved the way for Nicky. The track released on Spinnin’ Records shot to a 4th place in the overall Beatport top 100 download chart and straight to the top spot on Dutch portal Dance–Tunes. This success resulting in the worlds top artists supporting almost everything Nicky releases nowadays. People the likes of Tiesto, Fedde Le Grand, David Guetta and Sander Van Doorn all often feature tracks by Nicky in their sets. All these accolades make for Nicky being one of the hottest, most sought after producers and remixers on the planet today. With remixes for Green Velvet, Tiesto, Flo-Rida and David Guetta the outlook for 2011 is a promising one.
Nicky’s tour schedule for 2011 is also filling up nicely. Getting invited to play Ultrafest during the WMC and a two-week tour in Australia already pencilled in, leaves just enough time to tour the US and travel through Europe rocking the crowds where ever he plays. All this next to maintaining one of the busiest
production schedules know to man, Nicky Romero has truly entered the top realm within the global dance scene.
